Eco Friendly 100% Home Marine Compostabe PGA Biopolymer

Polyglycolide (PGA), also known as polyglycolic acid, is a highly crystalline, biodegradable aliphatic polymer with fast degradation speed, which is mainly used in Surgical suture and other fields.
Highlights of PGA
1. Full degradation and good biocompatibility
PGA is eco-friendly 100% home compostable and marine compostable.
2. High mechanical strength
3. High barrier

Poly (Glycolic acid), also known as polyglycolic acid, is derived from α Monohydroxy acid, namely Glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is produced by normal human body during metabolism. The polymer of Glycolic acid is poly Glycolic acid (PGA).

Poly (Glycolic acid) has a simple and regular linear molecular structure. It is a simple linear aliphatic polyester with high crystallinity, forming crystalline polymers. The crystallinity is generally 40%~80%, and the melting point is about 225 ℃. It is insoluble in common organic solvents, but only soluble in strong polar organic solvents such as hexafluoroisopropanol.

Its degradation conditions are mild, and it can achieve rapid degradation in the natural environment under the action of water and microorganisms. The final degradation products are carbon dioxide and water. In addition, PGA can also be degraded in seawater, and its degradation products are harmless to both the human body and the environment.

It is a kind of aliphatic polyester macromolecule material with the least unit carbon number, completely decomposable ester structure and the fastest degradation rate. Poly (Glycolic acid) is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester with excellent biodegradability, heat resistance, biocompatibility, gas barrier and mechanical strength. It is widely used in medical equipment, packaging, bottle materials, agricultural film and other fields.

Application examples:

1. The surgical suture line.

2. Flexible packaging, such as shopping bag, trash bag, mailing bag, food trays, cold drinking straws, and more.

3. Daily necessities, such as tableware, toothbrush, comb, bottle, drinking cup, etc.
